Metro Roofing Newsletter — Issue 04
Winter issue, written from the job trailer with the heater arguing with the coffee. This one goes to the homeowners mid-blizzard: what your roof is doing right now, and when to worry.
Normal winter sounds and sights: popping and cracking as materials flex in the cold, snow sliding off metal roofs in dramatic sheets, icicles forming on poorly ventilated eaves. Warning signs: icicles paired with interior wall stains, a sagging ridge line under heavy snow, or dripping around window frames. Ice dams are an attic problem wearing a roof costume, which is why we inspect ventilation before we ever quote a patch.
Emergency etiquette: if a storm opens your ceiling, move valuables, catch water in buckets, and call us, tarping is fastest when crews are not driving white-outs. Photograph everything for your insurer. Then let us handle the adjuster conversation; we speak that dialect fluently.
Warm thought for the cold months: every roof we installed this year is up there right now, shrugging. Sleep well, Minnesota.
